Kathleen Oldenburg

Hey all,
sorry to make it so impersonal, but I’m trying to send out alot emails to spread the word… so please pass this along to anyone you know that might want to help me.Almost all of you know that I lost my mom to breast cancer in Dec of 2008. I am fighting back by doing the 3-Day Walk in October with my Aunt Niki. There are many women out there who have been diagnosed with this disease and there will be more in the future. You can help find a cure by supporting me in my walk. I need to raise $2,300 for the walk, and all of the money goes to the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the cure foundation and their research.

Please go to http://www.the3day.org/site/TR/2010/TampaBayEvent2010?px=4736366&pg=personal&fr_id=1472 to donate. If you would rather donate by cash or check you can mail that to me and I can send it to them. (Kathy’s address is my old address in Clearwater).

Thank you so much for all of your support and love! Please, let’s find a cure so someday no one will need to suffer!

The past few days, I’ve had a cold which included a sore throat. The sore throat still lingers a little, but I believe the cold is gone. I also think my alergies started up early. I have also discovered that I have a chest cold. I usually get a chest cold every winter season usually 2 weeks after the onset of significantly drier air is in place. Since I didn’t get the chest cold back in Dec, I thought I escaped it. Wrong.

So yeah, very mild allergies and a chest cold which can linger for weeks. Grrr.

checked out haiti on google earth (google imagery was taken after the quake). That place was in really bad shape prior to the quake. Check out the Palace and then look about 1 block south and 2-3 blocks NE. Almost pure poverty. It reminds me of images from the movie Slumdog Millionare. I wouldnt be surprised if Haitians were getting better care now than ever before. Its sickening to hear reports of Haitians saying its other countries responsibility to help them. What little gov’t they had was usless.

I pass by 20-30 homeless people a day who could use the aid, food, & water that is currently going to haiti. So freaking sad. Why not a Red Cross ad of “Help Americans. Text 99999 for $10 donation”. Yeah, you don’t see those ads - well you do after a disaster.

And I do think its sad what happened to them. I’m so thankful I don’t live in such shambles. I’m so thankful to have a really crappy job. They were in horrible shape prior to the quake. Where was our compassion then? There wasn’t any. Nobody cared about Haiti prior to the quake and in 1 year, nobody will again. Since most of the gov’t officials died, maybe new leaders will take a stand and actually help build a stronger & better place. But then again, why make that kind of investment & care about your people when you know other nations will step in when disasters happen. Must be nice to have that safety net.

No more sign holding! Sunday was my last day of sign holding. The truth of the matter is, my knees just couldn’t take the abuse. A few Saturday’s ago, my knees were is such pain that I could barely walk. So, I reduced my hours at work and started standing on a few pieces of plush carpet. (Yes, I had inserts in my shoes long before). Though all these techniques have help my knees recover, I needed to find other employment in which I wasn’t standing for 4-9 hours a day.

My new job started Thurs, Jan 7th. I will not disclose details of it online in fear of my ex gf Melissa stalking me or something. The pay is based on commission & when I convert it to a rough per hour rate, its a little better than sign holding. At least my knees don’t take a pounding.

I will probably stick with this till I get on board with the FAA.

Very nice, petite woman who had 3 boys. Though she had a sense of humor, well educated, and is not a vegetarian….I just felt like we weren’t clicking. Lots of awkward pauses during & between conversations. I felt like I was doing most of the talking just to keep the silence from happening. She would have a few things to say but it wasn’t much for me to work with.

I tried dropping a few future hints of activities and stuff, but she didn’t pick up on anything. I got no clues that she would want to see me again.

(insert music) doo doo doo, another one bites the dust.
