Weekend in Review

This past weekend (Sat-Wed) was filled with exhaustion, laziness, excitement, and fun. I arrived by Ma & Robs Saturday morning. I have pictures I’ll upload soon.

Fishing on Saturday
Around 3p, Rob and I geared up for fishing in Tampa Bay. This fishing outing ranks as one of the top 5 unbelievable fishing adventures. We forgot the oars….need I say more? It appears our 8 year old battery was on its last leg. There was so little power in the battery, that if someone walked heal to toe, that person would be moving faster than we were. Thank god we a small tail wind. lol. Since we forgot to bring the oars, we had to improvise. Darkness was setting in, and we still had 0.3 miles down the channel to the boat launch. So, Rob and I broke some tree branches off and used them oars. Rob put his inside the fishing net. Believe it or not, this really did help. What should have taken 15 minutes to get back ended taking up over 90 minutes. Ouch. There’s more to the fishing story, but I’ll save that for another time.

Birthday dinner & desert (Sunday)
Ma & Rob had Kathy and I over for a special dinner and desert. Ma made her special spaghetti sauce and made the infamous 4 layer cake. All was delicious and very tasty. Yum Yum.

Ft Myers & The Melting Pot (Monday)
Kathy and I visited her grandmother Monday afternoon and also picked up some stuff as well. We got back to Tampa around 645p. Kathy took me out to ‘The Melting Pot’ restaurant. Its a fondue place. We spent about 2h 15m there enjoying our 4 course meal. This was a new experience for the both of us and we thouroughly enjoyed it. It’s share some similarity to Mongolian BBQ except you cook your own food at your table. It’s also pricey. I think we both agreed that the chocolate turtle desert was the most tastiest item we’ve had. Yum Yum. While at the restaurant, I opened a few gifts from Kathy. I got a Best Buy Gift card, an Irish Embry-Riddle pint glass, and a 64oz (2 liter) Glass Boot. Das boot. I’ve always wanted one…well not always…maybe only for 3 years. lol.

St. Patricks Day
Kathy and I pre-gamed St. Patricks Day by breaking in the new Glass Boot. We filled it up with 7 bottles of Miller Lite and added a few drops of green food coloring to make Green Beer. Then we progressed to a bar in Downtown St. Pete to a bar where Marc & D joined us. It was packed! It took us over 50 minutes to order food, I was served a warm beer, and we almost didn’t have to pay for our dinner. Marc & D had to get to bed for work, so Kathy and I checked out Fergs sports bar a block north of Tropicana Field. This was even more packed but twice the size of the 1st bar. Ironically, it was located across the street from police headquarters. lol. Fergs reminds me a little of Bourbon Streen on the southside of Chicago. This is definatley a place to catch a sports game and the food is reasonably priced. Anyways, Kathy and I had checked out the place, had a few beers, got a green budwieser hat, saw a brief fight, and called it a night at midnight. Fun night.
