Frank Wachowski is in the hospital
February 13, 2009 by T Love.
2-21-09: Great news! Mr. Frank Wachowski, the greatest co-op weather observer and greatest guy in the world (Yes, he paid me to say that. lol), is back home. He feels really good but he must be careful for a few days so the femoral artery heals. He must rest, and no lifting, driving or pushing, nothing that can put pressure on the artery. He is grateful for everyone’s prayers and good wishes and he will talk to you all soon.
Frank….Its great to have you back!
2-19-09: The midway observations will continue! Frank is done with his last angioplasty. He feels pretty good and is just tired. His oxygen level was slightly low so they have him on oxygen. He says the doctor is happy with things as they stand now. It is unclear when he will get home, hopefully soon. The doctors has to go in twice so they want to be sure he won’t tear anything. He can’t wait until he can talk to everyone. He is so very relieved he did not have to have bypass surgery.
If any anyone is interested in visiting Frank in the hospital, please email me off list, and I’ll let you know the hospital.
2-18-09: Some good news! Frank had 4 stents put in on Wednesday and they have 1 more procedure on Thursday. It is looking good. Frank is relieved that this much is over with. He is going to rest and he is grateful for everyone’s thoughts and prayers. As far as I know so far, Frank does not want anyone at the hospital….yet. Perhaps after Thursday, this could change.
2-17-09: Franks doctor is still doing his own tests to determine if Frank is a candidate to under go the angioplasty or if bypass surgery will be needed. Frank does not want visitors till it is know what procedure will take place - hence why I am witholding his hopital information.
I talked to Frank the other day and he sounded good and was in good spirits. However, he is quite nervous about open heart surgery. To lighten the mood, Frank and I cracked a few jokes. I told him that if doesn’t want to go through with this, that he will have to stop watching TWC and listening to Accu-wx! When Steve Kahn talked to Frank, he said that there is no way he is going to get out of experiencing the rest of this shitty winter like the rest us. Frank said he would be here for the duration! haha.
tbs - that was funny
2-15-09: Frank is still in the hospital. Angioplasty may not even be an option anymore. If it is, it will be done, otherwise Frank will have open-heart surgery on Tuesday. There is alot of blockage in at least 4 arteries 90-95% and one of the veins is also damaged. His heart is only functioning at about 30% efficiency.
2-13-09: Somewhat good news! Frank is talking and appears to be in good spirits. He’s pretty tired and worn out from all the tests. The doctors believe that the angioplasty will take care of the problem. This is not something that needs to be done immediately, like today, but it will be done in a few days. I plan on talking to Frank tomorrow.
I am quite relieved to hear this! Whew.
2-13-09: Sad news to report. Mr. Frank Wachowski is in the hospital. For those who don’t know who Frank Wachowski is….Frank is the official cooperative weather observer for Chicago’s Midway Airport. He is a very good and close friend of mine and a blast to be around. What a character!
Yesterday, he suffered a major heart attack. The doctors are going to try an angioplasty today. If that doesn’t work, they will transport Frank to another hospital to perform open heart surgery. I do not know what hospital he is at. I will pass along any new information as I recieve it.
My thoughts are with Frank. I hope it all goes well and there is no damage. As some of you guys know, I’m very close to Frank and this news has me pretty shaken up.

I’m going to the Daytona 500
February 13, 2009 by T Love.
Thats right baby! Sunday afternoon, I’ll be at the Daytona International Speedway watching the race. My seat is located in the back grandstands in the middle - Row 9. This will be my first Daytona 500 race. Opportunity knocked and I took advantage of it. Tickets for the 500 were sluggish so in response, tickets were being sold at $55 to generate interest. This is 1991 prices!
I’m excited dudes. There is a chance that I’ll be bored out of my mind but at least I can say I went.
