Frustration levels rise
Drama has now entered my training environment. It sucks. This definatley doesn’t help my training. I seen this coming weeks ago. I’ve tried 2 different ways to try and diffuse the situation before it got to this point today, but either way it produced the same result. I feel like I’m in a Catch 22 or ‘damed if I do, damed if I don’t’ situation with my primary trainer. Also, he tells me how I feel. Whats funny about that is, he’s really not right but he thinks he is.
The problem I am having in training is active listening. That is catching and undertanding what the pilot is telling me the first time while working FD/CD. This isn’t too much of a factor on IFR’s, but more so on pilots calling up and request a VFR clearance. Almost all the time, the pilots never gives the 4 pieces of VFR information in the order I need it which makes it a little tough for my untrained ears. My head starts spinning with these VFR guys. I’m getting better and I’m really trying to improve, however…
The frustration of the above is more with my trainer telling me to relax or to not get frustrated. I say “I’m ok or I’m not frustrated”, and the trainer then says “You are frustrated”. Now thats frustrating! Picture this happening 10-15 times a day for 7 days. Wouldnt you get frustrated?
