Kathy gets St. Petersburg
August 30, 2007 by T Love.
My gf Kathy, found out that she was offered St. Petersburg tower. She accepted. Kathy knew she was getting terminal but was kinda hoping for a TRACON/ATCT aka up-down facility (Terminal Radar Approach Control Facilities/Air Traffic Control Tower). St Pete is a level 7 tower where as an up-down facility could be a 9 -11 on a scale up to 12. She could possibly be CPC (Certified Professional Controller) at that facility in about 6-9 months. Congrats to Kathy!
It will still probably be several months before she leaves Daytona for her training in Oklahoma. She still has a background check, Class A medical, and a few other requirements to take care of for the FAA. She has not been offered an Oklahoma date yet.

7/24ths or 7/25ths pound burgers?
August 30, 2007 by T Love.
Ma and Rob paid a visit to T Love’s hideaway Tuesday night. Wednesday, we hit the beach and grilled. Rob got a free beach sticker pass and was finally able to ride his Jeep on the sand. We played some bags and boogie boarded and worked on our tans. I’m getting darker each day. Soon, I’ll be a mexican. Just call me Pedro.
We bought 2.25lbs of hamburger meat and made 8 burgers. While I was chopping up the onions and peppers, we were trying to determine what was inbetween 1/4 and 1/3. After some discussion, we ended up computing how much each burger wieghed. Rob and I concluded with 7/24ths. However, while eating the burgers, Kevin got in on the discussion. After each one of us reaching for calculators, it was determined that each burger was 7/25ths of a pound.
But we didn’t stop there. I posed the question of “What’s the difference between 7/24ths and 7/25ths?” After some more discussion, it was determined to be 7/600ths of a lb.
This burger discussion felt like a Darren moment.
It was great.
